Get the account with the installation
The installer finished, the lights respond, and the doorbell rings on a phone. Before calling the job complete, make sure the system belongs to an account you control. Watching someone else demonstrate it is not the same as being able to manage it yourself.
Ask for a handover using the manufacturer’s account-transfer or owner-invitation process. Confirm your email, recovery method, and administrator access. Sign in on your own device and find the settings for users, updates, and support. Keep the model numbers and setup instructions with your household records.
If ongoing support needs access, agree on what the installer can do and how you can revoke it. Prefer a separate named account with limited permissions when the product supports one. Do not rely on a shared password as the only record of who is in control.
Before removing an old owner, confirm that schedules, subscriptions, and any needed recordings will transfer correctly. A careful handover prevents a working installation from becoming a system nobody in the house can recover.
