AI in the kitchen

Voice assistants hear more than recipes. So do the homework bots, the camera apps that now “summarize the day,” and the chat tools the kids use without asking.

Know which device is always listening, and which account it reports to. If you cannot name the account, change it. Put a password on it that is not the same as the family email. Turn off the features that send voice clips or household video to train a model, unless you chose that on purpose.

Set a house rule you can keep. Kids do not paste report cards, addresses, or photos of other children into a public chat. Adults do not paste bank statements, contracts, or customer lists. The tool can still be useful. It does not need your life as the prompt.

This is the same work I do for families and for businesses. Name the tools. Name the accounts. Decide what never goes in. Then live with the rule.
