Give the bot a test it can fail

A polished demo answers the questions somebody prepared for it. Your business needs to know what happens with the awkward ones. Before relying on an AI assistant, give it a small set of questions you can check yourself.

Try a practical starting set: four straightforward questions, three that require comparing documents, and three whose answers are missing. Use material you are authorized to share. Write down the expected answer and where it comes from before running the test. A confident invention on a missing answer counts as a failure.

Record the tool, date, documents, and results. Repeat the same questions after changing the instructions or updating the source material. Watch whether it admits uncertainty and points to the right evidence.

Ten questions are a starting point, not proof that a system is safe or accurate. Expand the checks around the work you actually do. Keep a person responsible for consequential decisions, even when the demo looks good.
